31 Bahia Mar

I have a question: Is the 31 Bahia Mar laid out differently than the flybridge versions in terms of space? It seems like the flybridge boats have a lot more space forward of the engine boxes, in the cabin area. I saw a Bahia Mar the other day and the amount of room between the forward end of the engine boxes and the forward bulkhead seemed quite small to me.

The 31 Bahia only has the forward V berth and a small galley at port and a head at starboard, inside.
There is no salon inside, the salon space is taken up outside by the commanding post on one side and a bench on the other, just forward of the engines.

It just looked to me like the dimensions were different somehow.

Yes different layout between the two.
The Bahia Mar has the helm seat right about where the “heads” seat would be on the FBC
I have some old brochures that show the layouts of both, I’ll try to pull out n post tomorrow.

Sorry John, at home on iPad n can’t locate the code to post picture directly. See link for the layouts which I think answer your question.

I have seen two different variations of the above layout:
One with a longitudinal bench, in continuity to the engine box, where the double seat is,
and, another with two longitudinal benches on either side and the wheel on a tower.

Trying to post a photo, is there a trick I don't know? And thank you for that Carl, it's helpful.
Let's try this again:

Glad to help.
The motor location on the 31 stays the same from model to model. What changes is the configuration forward of the motors.
John,
On my computer its a snap,
- Load picture into Imgar under "New Post"
- When displayed move cursor into picture, "Link" with three dots will pop up in the top right of picture, click the three dots.
-Click "Get Share Links"
-Click BB Links (Bulletin Board)
Once you click BB links you can go to your post and "paste" into picture within the post.
That is how I do on computer...when using my ipad or iphone I cannot find the "Link" with three dots so I just do what you did, share and post the link. Not a big deal if you think about it, its only a link and picture pops up quick.

Thanks Carl. This is an intriguing redo of a 31 but it looks like on the Bahia Mar, there's very little space available between the forward end of the engine boxes and the cabin bulkhead. The bulkhead appears to be located farther aft in the Bahia Mar.

John,
The boat in this picture is not a stock Bahia Mar layout.
The Bahia Mar has two separate motor boxes, with deck level walkway/companion way between into cabin. Its a big step up into helm chair on the Starboard side.
This 31 Bahia Mar seems to have updated the traditional motor boxs and companionway for a center helm pod on a raised deck design, like the Express boats today.

That's what it looks like to me too.

I own a 31 bahia mar. I'm not sure what your definition of "quite small" is. I had my cockpit redone a few years ago, here is a link to the thread with a bunch of pictures.

I think the quite small refers to the area between the front of motor box and bulkhead where the helm seat resides. The cockpit on the Bahia is huge. I enjoyed seeing the pictures of your rebuild again. Real nice job...

Yes, those rebuild photos are awesome, thanks for sharing. The "small" comment refers to the space between the forward end of the engine boxes and the bulkhead. The original diagrams Carl posted illustrate the issue. On the Bahia Mar, there's a second transverse bulkhead placed further aft, which creates the head and sink spaces forward.
