New headache (generator)

In february's trip I started seeing some oil on the generator's drip pan as it was running non-stop for 3 days. This past weekend it leaked more oil so decided to remove the generator to investigate. I though it was the rear main seal but discovered today that the issue is the head gasket.
What I found while removing the head:
All hoses were supper hard and had to be cut to remove them
Saltwater pump is starting to leak
Coolant pump has play on the front
Air silencer is broken
Cooler and heat exchanger needs cleaning
Front crankshaft pulley has rust
Starter will be sent to be refreshed

This generator had 275 hrs when I bought the boat and is from 1989.

So after an online order of $2500 in parts I should be good to go once I get them.

UGH! Sorry to hear that. Nonuse is the worst thing for an engine. Seals and gaskets dry out. I would send the head out to make sure it is ok.

Yes, also going to replace the front seal as its pretty easy. I already have the rear seal but don't want to disassemble the whole thing.

Micky-

My experience with gensets is they get repaired right or they get repaired often and then replaced.
