Winter dreams

The days get a little longer and as I make do my weekly check of Amberjack I find myself dreaming of sunnier days.

Engine vents covered with power lead for winter engine block heaters
Image
Deck cowls taped over to prevent wind from ventilating warmth from engine compartments. It took a while to figure out the engines wouldn’t smoke so much if the tape was removed when running them.
Image
Static heaters to keep the cabin dry and prevent the water system from freezing. You can see the head door propped open with a supplemental drop light for the really cold spell. We had about a week of -20F. Weather in January. The galley cabinet doors are also propped open.

All the while dreaming of this!

Doug

Do you have any type of cover on her for the winter?

Tony it is under covered moorage in the lake during winter. It has a cover but I only use it in saltwater moorage in summer.

I only ask because an old family friend use to have his boat covered and with the heater on you couldn't stay in the cabin.

The boat has a cockpit cover plus I keep the fly bridge covered and the front windshield covered for what help that provides but no full cover. I agree, that would be the best heat retention.
