I have just finished doing a cosmetic restoration on a boat that I got for my wife which is an 18' Hunt (built by O'Day in 1968ish). I am now looking for a GPS navigation device, that is compact and functional for non-technical people. The boat has a faired in transducer that has a 10 pin output that currently goes to a Furano depth sounder. If we could get depth display on the GPS device it would be a major bonus, but not a deal breaker.
Any ideas from the Gurus? If I get good suggestions, the reward will be that I will figure out how to post a picture of the boat!

Garmin is pretty easy to use. You would need to see if they make a convertor for the 10 pin transducer to what the Garmin is. I am sure they do. My new Garmin is 8 pin and my transducer was 6 pin and I found a conversion for that unit.

I have had Furuno on my 31 for 35 years, flawless. I also have the Furuno GP-1870F on our 21 CC Allied, perfect for the water we fish and navigate. EarleyBird

I think Garmin is very good for not-tech savvy...its what I got. Pretty simple and not crazy expensive
