Be careful picking up heavy objects

Well just lost my summer. Got sick yesterday, thought I had a kidney stone. Turns out a hernia wrapped around the small intestine. Emergency surgery, now can't do any heavy activities for 6 weeks. Ugh

I feel for you. I've had back trouble for years. I always think before I lift.

Good luck with your recovery.

Get well soon, Tony.
I’m sure you’re in good hands.
(From someone who thinks twice before he lifts anything).

Best Wishes Tony. Take it easy and follow the Dr’s advice. Even once you get to feeling better.

Seems like when I had my hernia surgery my doctor told me nothing heavier than a quart of milk. It get’s aggravatingly limiting, but you don’t want to make him go in and make another run at your gut.

But it can heal up well. It’s been maybe 10 years since I had mine and I’ve done pretty well after the surgery.

Best of luck my friend.

Thank you for the well wishes. Hope to get out of here Wednesday. The 6 week limited activity has me more annoyed. Looks like boating is out for a while.

From what I heard you should be fine fishing...it's only heavy things you can't lift.

Ugh...sorry Tony. I wish you a quick mend.

Thanks everyone. I have a feeling summer is over for me. There is always next year.

Hang in there Tony! Maybe you can sit and drink a beer while someone else runs the boat. It sucks, but at least is is repairable.

Bob, I think about you often. I went through that with my mother, but I know it is probably harder with your life partner. Just know we are all praying for both of you. Keep your chin up! The Lord has a special place for caregivers I believe. Rawleigh

Tony best of luck, get a good lounge chair for the yard and enjoy. I’ve lost a summer to surgery, be thankful for good health, relatively speaking.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Tony ,

Get well soon . Kidney stones are not that bad when it comes to my neighbors friend down there on the south shore of long island who had Bladder Cancer . He had gross hematuria ( urinating blood ) and he thought he had a kidney stone but he had no pain . Turns out having some pain with the hematuria and a kidney stone was not such a bad thing ( all things must pass ...= ) . The odd thing was his adjoining neighbor had Bladder Cancer also ; environmental for sure . The one neighbor had his Bladder & Prostate removed and they section where your bladder was with a piece of your intestine ( neo bladder ) or you can wear a bag ... Not good choices.
I will not go into what my Oncologist neighbor believes it is , i've gone down that road b4 on this board and i took some flack. After you get better there are a lot of things to do naturally to prevent stones in the future , lemon juice ( citric acids ) ect..

Feel better and make the best of your down time . I've found much of life is perspective .

You will be doing nothing, just the ordering part!!

I hope your recovery continues to go well. Six weeks just about gets you to July 4th. Hope you are a new, independent man then!
Kind regards,
Stephan

Waiting is no fun....

Hopefully you heal up well, follow the doc's instructions and you will be on the water before you know it.

When I had back problems, my doctor told me “don’t lift anything heavier than a lady’s skirt”

After several black eyes from doing that, I changed doctors.

Now that is funny.

Thanks everyone. Got out on Thursday, but the diet has to be bland. I did push the food envelop the other day, I paid dearly for it. Made for an uncomfortable night. Took a good 24 hours to straighten out.

I guess the old digestive system got beat up worse than I thought. See the Doc in a week and will see what he has to say.

Just saw this,
Tony sorry that happened to you and I wish you a quick recovery. That sounds painful. Hopefully all is well very soon!
And please take it easy.

Totally agree Hydroracer. And the pandemic brought a lot of that out for me, seeing life from a different angle.
Like was already said, get that chair out Tony and enjoy your yard, but without lifting for awhile!

Thanks

My wife is making sure I behave myself. I think this is going to cost me dearly in the end.
