Aft bilge pump

I need to replace my aft bilge pump. What I have in there now is a Rule-Mate 1100 gph with a built-in float switch. The reviews for this model on the Jamestown Distributing website are universally terrible. What do you guys suggest?

Use these switches. This link takes you to their Tef-gel page. Click on the "Pump Switch" tab on left side of screen. These are the Ultra Pump Switches.

Then pick your choice of simple bilge pump (w/o built in switch).

Most of the time the problem is the switch goes bad. I have only had one pump actually go bad.

Mine has the built-in water level sensor and there is a short in the unit somewhere.

Can you bypass the switch and wire it to another switch?

Good idea. I’ll try that the next time I’m down at my boat. The pump has three wires going up to the terminal block: black - ground, solid brown- to the float switch, and brown and white which probably bypasses the switch.

I've bought 4 of the Seaflo 2000 gph pumps and they work fine. I've only had them for about 6 months and I double up my pumps but for $49 for a 2000 gph pump, I can afford to double them up.
