I plan to add a low coolant level switch to my Cummins coolant tank by welding a 1/4" half coupling to the tank, inserting this sensor and wiring it to my engine alarm. The vendor claims that it is an on/off switch, not a variable output sensor -- will test it when it arrives. Has anyone done this? If so, what manufacturer/model switch did you use? Do you see any flaws with my plan?
Thanks -- Marshall

Re: Adding Low Coolant Level Switch
Marshall,
My oil slignin dump truck motors have those sensors...they tie into the low oil pressure, overheat sensor and tranny temp sensor alarm circut and ring a very loud 6" 12vdc bell that is up on the flybridge all are tied to NC contactor, so if anyone breaks the circuit the bell rings.

Re: Adding Low Coolant Level Switch
Thanks -- I am surprised more people have not added a low coolant level switch. If you get a coolant leak and wait until the high temp alarms sounds, damage could already be done. Maybe I'm over thinking it.
