Can I convert a Yanmar engine from 170hp to 240hp?

I've read that 170's come with two valves per cylinder and 240's with 4. Also, that the turbo must be changed and cylinders of the 240s are slightly wider than the 170s. Anyone has done this?

I have a gut feeling of not the route you suggested, but I'm far from a diesel guy.

How are you? It has been a while. Hope all is well.

I think Bruce would be the best one to answer that one, but I think the conversion cost would be the issue, if it can even be done.

You currently have the big blocks correct? The 170's would give you great fuel consumption but I don't think the performance would be even equal to the big blocks.

Hueso,

No you can't.

Those 170 would not be good for 31.

Bruce:

Loud and clear! Thank you!

Tony:

As you may know Puerto Rico has been "busy" with PROMESA ACT, Hurricane Maria, earthquakes since January (5.1 this morning), and now the damn COVID-19. All these events have affected severely professional services, specially lawyers. Courts closing, social distancing, bankruptcy of the main government, etc.

I'm holding on and sometimes I see myself moving to one of the Southern States but I love my Island with all its defects and stubbornly decide to stay here. Also, the pelagic fishing grounds are at a 5 mile range. :-D

I hope it turns around for you. Moving to a southern would probably m even passing another bar exam. Ugh

What ever you decide best of luck.

Stay safe and healthy.
