New 28 gunwale doors

Post by kross1 »

Hello All
First off I check this site everyday. I haven’t posted in a while so I said why not put something up.
Made some new doors from some scrap teak.I was tiered of looking at the soaps and brushes and stuff.
Was going to use plastic but figured this would look better. Don’t mind the mess it’s winter. The blocking still has to be sanded and painted and the teak sealed.
Happy New Year

Tony, it’s nothing serious, it must be due to all these holiday parties, lol!
(It’s the same as in pic No 2, only closed. It’s the wood grain that does the trick)

Looks like you are using Beau clips. https://beauclip.com/

How do you like them? I'm planning to use them for attaching coaming pads.

Tony
It's just a door to the compartment. It only opens 90 degrees because of the type of hinge.I put epoxy on the back side to hopefully keep the wood stable.

Cross and sant@ maria,

You, with all these girls onboard (if I’m not mistaken), you should need space. The 28 has ample side deck space. With a much bigger hatch, you’d stick under the gunwales a lot more stuff. My 2 eurocents.

Ha, ha, what’s important here is that this thought occurred to many of us...others dealt with it successfully, others not!

Yes the Beau clips are nice.Depending on clearance between parts “items being used” they can be recessed in or shimmed on top of items
To make a perfect fit.
