Epoxy Primer

Post by Bill Cuthbertson »

Is there a big difference between the interlux epoxy primer and the Awlgrip 545. The interlux seems to be available at more retailers which makes it easier to pick up small batches for parts priming etc.

It depends upon the top coat. Use the recommended primer for the manufacturer of the top coat, especially if it's awlgrip or emron

Bill,
My experience reveals that 545 primer is by far a superior product. Interlux is OK for under bottom paint but under Imron or Awlgrip I would never use it. As far as availibility is concerened. 545 is available at most automotive or industrial paint stores. You will not find it at retail stores. Wearing a resperator is a must. Good luck. BTW Partick recomends 545 highly and I concur. Dave K
