Thanks Ray have a friend who'll let me borrow a set of 21 x 23 three blade nibrals. I'm concerned that with 1.53 to 1 gears even with 1 engine I might not be able troll slow enough. Any one have suggestions

Same engines on my 31 FBC. I am spinning 4 blade 20x23 with cup. Tell John Lane to set them up the same as mine. One engine I am at about 3.5 knots depending on the tide. Both engines at idle are 5 knots.

Need to slow down more, go to 3 blade for stripers. But given what we are seeing down our way, it is not looking good for the striper runs.

What's happening down your way Tony?

They have been killing them here for weeks.

The fish are far and few between. The spring run has been a bust so far.

Tony-
Not sure what your hearing, but up my way it has been stellar the past few years. Having literally tons of bait in the bay hasn't hurt, might be a reason they are not leaving our area.
Wasn't all that many years ago if you were catching bass in the 30 lb range you were "the man". Today its all about the high 40's and 50's with guys striving for a 60lb.

Ray--Reel Crazy will be great with new motors. Congratulations. I can get Crows Nest (300 hp DD w/3 blades--forget what size wheels) down to about 3.5 knots on one motor. Not as slow as I'd like, but it works when I do troll for stripers/rock.

From what I understand, Virginia suspended its spring trophy season this year, and in mid-Bay where I am, the trophy fishing (min. size 35") is awful. Very few trophy fish being caught. The spring and fall trophy seasons have been worse every year. The regular season slot limit opened up 5/15, and on 6/1, the Bay (including tributaries) opens up. I haven't fished yet this year.
