Hello All ,
Long time since I've been on here .
Looking for info on where to get a helm pump rebuilt.
I'm in Hyannis , Mass.
Was also looking at the rebuild kit . Is that an easy job ?
It's is my outer O Ring towards the shaft that is seeping fluid .
Thanks
Jack

Buy the Kit and do it yourself. Very easy to,if you have device to take pictures, makes it simpler. “O” Rings, Seals, and all mating surfaces must be clean.Lightly lubricate all parts during re-assembly. Have done it a couple of times, not hard at all.

It's not hard at all but there is a caviat.

Helms that are mounted vertical allow water to run down the shaft to the face of the helm. Many times there is a wood backing to support the helm. That wood gets wet and remains wet.
All that moisture can cause corrosion between the aluminum body and stainless shaft.
Inspect carefully at the shaft seal location.

A few helms over the years had enough corrosion that a new seal would not seal into the body.

Just check if doing yourself
