The method that I usually use on my cars is to make a lengthwise cut at each end but the reinforcing wires make this difficult. Any other ideas on how to remove the hose from the nipple on the strainer and the seacock?

I got a hose removal tool from my local auto parts store (actually a two piece set with blades at different angles). After I used the tools to loosen the hoses at both ends they came off with considerably less of a struggle. The first one came off in one piece but I had to cut the second one because it would not bend enough.

A heat gun works well too. get the rubber warm, use the hose tool to loosen it up and the slide off.
