Just came in the port a big Bertram. I’d say its a 46 or 54.
Jumped out and talked to the owner, turns out its a 52 of 1988.
Didnt know a 52 existed. Perhaps Tommy could enlighten us.

Never heard of a 52. Maybe it was made by Richards long lost cousin, 张伟 Zhang Wei Bertram.......

They made a 50 and a 51 but I don't remember a 52. Could it have been made in Australia. There was a licensed company down there that used to build boats using the Bertram Logo.

She’s moored sideways so I cant just pretend walking on the dock taking pics, its too obvious.
I’ll wait till they pass by me as they leave later in the day.
The guy told me that Bertram made just a few of them back in the day...

Ha, ha Carl, yes, however I found the first mate on my way to the recycling bin, whom I asked what is this B52 story and he replied that the boat is a 50 alright...how come the owner still thinks she’s a 52 beats me.
One explanation could be that the 50 is fiscally a 52 in length ...hence the misunderstanding.
I got pics but I have to go to the house to wifi into the cloud etc...I also got other pics too, Im in a deserted marina, oh well!

Seems bigger when you say 52'.

If you really want to know if they know the actual size...ask the dockmaster what size boat they are paying for. Unless its different over on your side and they don't charge by size.

I've been having a fun time explaining to a bud that the 31 he was buying will not be allowed in his 32' slip. We'd go around and around. But its a 31, yes that 31 is the model, your boat is 33' overall and that will not be allowed in a 32' slip. But the waterline length is 30-1/2'...yup, but its overall they go by and your 33'.
He bought it anyway and was removed from his slip as she stuck out past pilings...not sure if he still gets it, but now he's pissed as its a 31 and he's paying for 40' slip.

We dont have pillars and nobody could care less what your boat length is.
However, for practical reasons, they assign relatively similar lengths together, say all under 10 m go to that pier, all 10-15 m to that one, etc.
In the islands, where I am now, its first come first serve, so you may end up next to a superyacht with all the generators working all night long...there are no assigned slots.
The length of a boat, is very important to the internal revenue guys, where you are taxed according to length.

Oh, and there are absolutely no works to be done in these summer marinas, except of course as you so well put it, wrestle around wine and ouzo bottles all day, and if youre lucky, all night too!

As stated above, no such Bertram "52" exists. The Bertram 50 was introduced in 1987 and had a factory specs of 50' 0"; beam of 16' 0"; and weight of 56,530#.

The Bertram 51 came along around 2000 and had factory specs of 51" 0"; beam of 16'2"; and weight of 59,500#.

Obviously, if the boat has a pulpit or swim platform, the marinas will add that length when figuring the rental rate, so maybe that's where the "52" comes in.

The B-31 has a factory spec length of 30' 7".

Marinas charge you acc to the “fiscal” length, that is the LOA. This figure never includes pulpits or swim platforms, unless the swim platform is integral to the hull, like in some Uniesse or Apreamare, or Menorquin type boats. As a result, I doubt that the 50 LOA could ever become 52, unless they use some unknown to me measuring system...
By the way, do you know who was the designer of the 50,51 and 54?
