Below is a photo of some crazing that I would like repair.



If you look closely at this photo, you can see from this photo that the crazing went from the area around the big reference zinc on the transom up to the center arm of the swim step and to the edge of an underwater light. I removed the light and swim step and sanded that area down.



My concern is the crazing went into the first layer of chopped strand just behind the gelcoat. How do I remove the bonding zinc bolts so I can sand, patch, and re-gelcoat this area?

You should be able to see the head of the bolts on the inside of the transom right above the rear bilge pump. May be a two person job, one with a wrench on the inside and the other on the inside. The bolt heads should be right there when you lift the rear hatch. These zincs were not factory so the bolts are not glassed in unless who ever put them on glassed the heads in.

I doubt the crazing goes into the mat. Looks like gel coat is bad. But the mat may be wet and checked for damage.

Try to pry off the outside washer with a screwdriver.
Then, tell everyone to seek cover and take a hammer.
Give the bolts a series of blows from the outside. It should all come out on the inside.
That's what it looks like to me from the pics.

They shoupd back ouy by using a wrench on the inside bolt heads after they are a bit loose you can hit them with a mallet. But loosen them first.
