outrigger poles

My Florida boat (non B-31) has a tower and holders for outriggers.
Poles will be 15' or 18' without a spreader.
I've considered telescoping poles (so as to save the last few feet on clearance) vs. fixed poles (to save on cost).
Does anyone have experience with telescoping poles as to pain in butt or flexibility vs simplicity and cost effectiveness of fixed ?

My last boat had 15' glass poles that telescoped.

They fit that 23' boat in size, once in awhile they dropped down due to running, waves, or wind.
They really do flex, especially on a small boat...kept them tied together to keep them from getting crazy.

Light, easy to drop down, put out or remove, fit in bed of truck to bring home at seasons end.

I have telescoping poles on my 28 that do the job with no problem. The only issue I had was their tendency to want to collapse when running hard--a few turns of electrical tape at each joint solved that problem. They do bend a lot, but that can be a plus if you are a few inches short on clearance--they just tap the bridge and bend out of the way!
