Shurhold clean-N-simple power cord, youtube it. It talks about ropes first, you may consider the brush, but also look at the liquid they propose. This will also lead you to other solutions too.

I used a few Clorox wipes before putting mine away for the season and it worked great.

Marinestrip - couple wipes with this and it will look brand new, best stuff out there.

How about ropes?
Any tricks out there?
I saw on YouTube some people put them in the washing machine in a pillow case....my wife may toss me in there if I screw up her machine.

Take them to a laundry mat. Use one of their heavy duty machines. If it is the pillow case they will never know. If they ask tell them it's a body,

Re: Shore-power cord cleaning
Steve, regarding the washing machine route for your lines, a few guys said to add fabric softener and it would soften up stiff lines.
Re: Shore-power cord cleaning
I put 3 loads every October at season's end, with soap and softener...afterwards I hang them to dry...they come out like baby linen!
If you "you tube" the site I mentioned earlier there are other solutions too, but the washing machine trick beats them all!
