Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself. Current owner of a 28 that I'm doing a complete refit to. This site is awesome and the information is always extremely helpful!

Bought this '84 as a non-runner in Pompano beach as a college graduation gift to myself and brought it back up to SC to do a refit/update/repair to it. New engines and gear, paint, wiring, along with the typical fuel tank replacement and engine bed replacement. I'm currently finishing up a wooden skiff build (pics attached at the bottom), so most of my attention is focused on that at the moment. I'm looking forward to getting into the build and bringing another Bert back to life!

Welcome

Good luck with new 28. When you are done, you will not be disapointed.

Well I am glad I am not the only one who has to get permission. This should be interesting.

My fear is that I am going to have to bring the Pool Boy so Mark has some one to entertain him.

Tony, you missed the Tropic Star thread; you must be nervous about the boss looking over your shoulder.

Jbottoms, nice work, but you have way too much energy!

Jbottoms,

Welcome and good luck for the ...tons of work awaiting.
This looks like a post '85 model, nice!
One thing I can't shut-up saying each time I see it, is the tower height.
Beware of such high towers on '28's...you might end-up injured or seriously humidified...this boat rolls a lot.

Nice Jbottoms-

Welcome to the Sandbox, lots of great info here...even some boat related.

So let me get this straight...in the midst of a 28 rebuild you thought to take a break by building a wooden skiff...or you were building the skiff and wanted to line up another project boat.

Either way...it looks like you'll fit right in here.

Carl

The buggy top is definitely not going back! Completely useless in my opinion on a 28

Started the skiff build my Junior year of high school about 6 years ago. It was hard to find time when I was in college, so it's taken me a lot longer than it should have. But, I'm having the time of my life building it. I've always wanted a Bertram since I was a kid, so when I found that 28', I jumped on it so that when I finished the skiff, I'd get to keep having some fun!
Here are a few more pictures if anyone is interested.
