Back in 1992 my marine towing company was chosen to be the first TowBOAT US in the United States by the largest boating association in the world Boat US.
At that time our main towing vessel was a 1987 ? 31 ft Bertram Bahia Mar with twin 454 Marine Power engines.
She worked very hard for my company and was eventually sold to another towing company near Annapolis, MD

How do you get "Close Tag" to work after posting a picture?

Thanks for sharing; not surprised that the "Best Boat Ever Built" would hold that honor. I've been a TowBOAT-US customerfor 25 years and always received professional a fair treatment from those guys.

You need to make those images smaller. Yours is 48" X 32". I resized to to 8 X 6.

I found my original Certificate of documentation in some of my old files.
Prior to becoming TowBOAT US Mystic, CT my company was known as Southeastern Marine.
and the boat name was "Tug of War".
She was manufactured in 1970, not 1987 as I previously stateed.

I was going to say earlier I doubt your 31 was an 87.
Bertram stopped building the 31 in 1983...sorta kinda, as they build another 23 boats in 1987 as a Silver Anniversary edition. Of the 23 I could be wrong, but think they were all FBC models.

Great work boat, good looking one for sure. I'd think not exactly the most cost effective with big block gas power running long distances.

I do not think I have ever seen a tow boat in the 30' range. Mostly here they are 25's give or take a foot or 2 and center consoles.
Think the rigid inflatable is the more prevalent boat these days.

Thanks for sharing,
Carl

26 ft is the preferred size due to Coast Guard Regs. That requires an engineer be aboard towing vessels over 26 ft.
We did eventually go to all ribs.

Don!!!! I just figured out who you are! LOL!!

I keep my boat in GLP. Thankfully I have never needed your services or those of Joe and his crew in the yellow boats. Hope you are well!!!

We have many mutual acquaintances. Be well!

In my haste I should have added that I probably should have called you but found a way to get home safely and without professional assistance. I have been a Towboat us customer for many, many years. My brother on the other hand has called for assistance many more times than I can count! LOL!
