Hi everyone. Been reading, and learning a bunch over the past month or so. Finally signed up last night. First off, I'm really impressed with the members on this board. Everyone seems to be extremely helpful and willing to offer their thoughts and advise. So... I bought my first Bertram about a month ago. I fell in love with the classic look and lines of this awesome boat!

I've spent the last month tearing the deck, stringers, engine, tank, etc. out of the boat. I bought it from a woman who's husband passed away while starting a rebuild. My plan is to rebuild her, and strap on a pair of 300 Mercury Verados. I plan on using the boat for some cruising, trips to the Bahamas, and of course fishing. I'd appreciate any comments, concerns and advice. Looking forward to getting to know everyone. I'll take some pictures asap.

Best,
Mike

Mike,

Welcome you’ve come at a good time. Not long ago you would have been cast away as an unruly outboard convert.

There is a great YouTube video of an outboard conversion. Looks really nice.
