Hi to all , I am looking for any and all info and opinions on these engines, have had some conflicting reports ,so i thought id put out to the faithful and get the truth

I have no personal experience with them, but my Dentist has twin Mann's in his Hatty and he absolutely loves them. I do recall him saying they are very very low rpm motors however. Sorry not of more help.

Overall the 1050 ten cylinder MAN was a good engine. I ran a 50 viking with a pair of these engines and a friend ran a 53, both boats were cruising over thirty knots and caught billfish very well.
The 510 Bertram also ran well with these, I don't believe as quick though.
The Bertram had issues with its engine room air boxes and would allow considerable amount of salt mist through them, the outboard sides of the engines should be looked at very closely.
There were a few issues with the tens,
We cracked an oil feed line on the top of the engine that made a real mess but wasn't expensive to repair
There were some sensor issues that ghosted in and out causing us to limp home a few times
Maintenance was key, look for all the services, have the coolers checked and a good survey by your mechanic.

Over all I liked them

unfortunately i am extremely familiar with every nut bolt and screw on those Mann V-10 1050 HP. five days a week in engine room.she ran 35---36 knots wot with perfectly matched Veer props.i was captain of this boat for three years .Built for phillips energy with every option in the book from Bertram including granite counter,leather couches ,POA water system for tournaments in Caribbean .countries require black water tank ,grey water tanks for ALL water from sinks ,showers etc.A/C cost a fortune separate state of art units ----make sure they work!!!!! engines work on 5 cylinders up to 1400 rpm we had single lever control on pod with pipe welders tower . troll real nice. keep in mind fuel injection pumps are indigenous to the engine serial numbers cannot be purchase as a part must use original matched pump and have it rebuilt (Scott in fort Lauderdale fl.

Thanks guys, great to have such knowledgeable and helpful people in the sandpit, Bob do you remember the slow(18-23knt) speed cruise fuel burn? and how did the boat run in the 18-23 knot range, we dont cruise much above that here in NZ, and overall what do you think of the B510, ? good boat? well constructed? and importantly how do they run down hill , aft beam quarter on.?(following sea)

the 510 Bertram was very well constructed and handled very good in 10' seas around montauk . you can feel that huge tower and it`s effect on roll when you drift in big seas like shark fishing. i cannot remember fuel consumption at 18-23 knt. with WOT at 36 knots after tweaking props and "bump" the fuel injection pump the cruse was 27 to 28 knots.
