Guys,
In the photo are two interior wall pieces. The horizontal one goes between the sink & head; the vertical next to the door to the head.
I just laid down a coat of vinyl ester cut with 20% styrene to get the vinyl ester resin on the head sides of the pieces soaked into the wood. Both pieces have teak veneer attached with epoxy resin on the other sides. The sides I'm prepping now will have gel coat sprayed on what will be the interior of the head.
The pieces are plenty rigid already.
Question is can I add another layer of vinyl ester, fair it, and then shoot gel coat on the faired surface without having added chopped strand mat? Or is there a reason why I need the chopped strand mat for the surface the gel coat will go on?
Thanks!
