I need to replace the material in my transom scuppers. Tried snow mobile flap material, too stiff. I'm sure they are perko's.
What kind of material do you guys use for those scuppers and where do you get it? Thanks.

I tried using a harder rubber and found they just let water pour in, slowed water going out.

Soft and allowed material to overlap opening a good bit (3/4" about)...allows water out and waves slapping into the back of the boat, the rubber sealed tight to hull.

Carl beat me to it! I was going to recommend either McMaster, or Grainger, or perhaps MSC.

Or if you have a local industrial supply house, they might be able to help. Otherwise all of the above would be good sources with my first choice probably being McMaster.

Neoprene Rubber, multipurpose works fine. Outdoor rated.

I bought a couple different pieces to try...Can't recall which I went with, but was either 1/16 or 1/32 and pretty sure it was soft...med hard at the most.
I just recall thinking it was too thin and soft to work...but the rubber kinda got sucked into scupper a bit sealing when waves hit transom or rocking.

FYI- I still get water coming in...but not half the amount I used to get.

I would check your local plumbing store for gasket rubber used in various plumbing projects. Not the big chain stores, but Ma and Pa types. Should be able to find a 12" roll 1/16' thick in black, white, or thicker red. Buy it be the foot, it's cheaper than shipping from McMaster and allows you try a couple different thicknesses. If you can find a UV stabilized EPDM rubber, like what they use on rooftops, that would prob work better over time. I think I have the same type of scuppers on my B33. A craft type hole punch works wonders! I get about 2 years out of a set. Easy to swap out at the dock. Just my 2 cents.

Definitely too flimsy... The same material in triple or quadruple thickness might work though...

I gave up trying to find something to use for the original scuppers, and bought a set of these from West. All plastic with a hinge and trap door..

They seem to do the job and I have no concerns about them drying out and getting brittle or deteriorating in any way.

2nd Frank's recommendation - we have a set. Blow them out with a garden hose every so often so they swing easily, and be done with it.

x 3. I love them and trash doesn't stick in them like it does when it gets halfway out of the rubber ones.
