small fishing boat advice

Hi i live in New Zealand, I have a 1986 B42 and we are blessed with the most beautiful gulf which is great for fishing, our winter fishing is always shallow water fishing around the inner gulf,small islands,reefs etc,some so shallow we have to pole into. I want a boat that is very quiet,as the fish spook easily , something light enough for one person to handle,but with good sea keeping ability,shallow draft, no more than 16-17 foot,its something that should be practical over pretty, no alloy as its to noisy , and cold
I`am pretty handy and have a workshop,so could build something, but very happy to buy something .My first thought was a dory of some kind but i`am open to any suggestions you guys may have

How about a Panga. Used a lot do wn in the Carribian.

If the waves where you fish are anything like the ones in the Med, then this Panga boat will send you directly to the chiropractor.
In this kind of waves I would rather ride a 18" Grady.
Otherwise, the Panga looks nice, roomy, and it was originally made by Yamaha.

PS: Same reason why a Boston Whaler is a terrible choice in the Med. There, you should bring the chiropractor onboard with you.

The "Panga" is based on the classic Japanese fishing boat which is based on centuries of experience... It's a good boat... I'm pretty certain you can find a "Panga" to check out in New Zealand... Having said that, for the specific usage of your winter fishing, perhaps you should be looking at a so-called "flats boat"?!...

I assume you saw this site.

You are looking for a boat to go shallow, a V hull would probably draw too much water. Not sure about poling one of these.

You see them all over the Islands. I have never been on one, so I can not comment on the ride.
