proper spacing of bunks for a boat lift

I am installing a High Tide Topless boat lift. Because of the deep v of the hull Hi Tide fabricated an 8" spacer. The question is how far apart should the bunks be for proper positioning on the lift. Has anyone had any experience with this. I have had several opinions but no consensus. thanks john

Hi, and welcome to the site.

Here are some pictures of a properly done trailer...... Perhaps they will inform your decision. Looks to be just outboard of the rudders. Much more than that will likely flex the hull.

I too would like to hear the responses in regards to a boat lift. I am building a dock and will put in a lift as well.
