Frank,

Send it my way!

I've been without electricity since 6/10!
At both my houses on 2 different ends of the island..........which escaped Matthew relatively unscathed, thankfully............my boat sank though.......raised it and engines running again!

Preston

Where are you located? I am not sure how easy it will be to get it to the Bahamas.

Frank,

Obviously I was jesting, cheers..............having no electricity for me is actually not that big of a deal excepting for keeping food / cold water.............fortunately the evening temps have dropped so that sleeping without a/c or fans is not a hot nightmare!

Preston, with a few solar panels you could have not just a fridge, but a freezer. Plus all fans and all lighting AND water pumps !
No ac but like you said, who needs one... At least, for now.

I gather that you have never been to the Bahamas?!... It's certainly doable but it's not great fun... Also, right now, I would assume that if there were any solar panels to be had on the islands before Matthew they're now all gone... Not by the storm mind you... But rather by people who went out and bought them... Just like I'm sure that you couldn't find a single generator for sale anywhere on the islands...

I know that people are flying them (generators) in (together with all kinds of other donations) from FL right now...

To be quite honest I'm more concerned with finding 6 hatches that floated away off my back deck during the sinking than anything else!

As to a/c............I am used to 80o - 85o inside the houses as usual 'summer' temps......I can live with that provided there's a through breeze or fans providing air circulation..............it's what I grew up with....less the fans............that said there's nothing more pleasant than a cold a/c room.....or a warm/hot shower!

Preston..
When I checked on where you lived I wondered if you were really serious but I was willing to see about shipping options if you were. I have friends who presently are traveling down the Intracoastal Waterway on the way to their annual winter "vacation" in the Bahamas. I had even thought about asking if they might be able to tie it down on the foredeck of their 30' sailboat.

We here in Wilmington, NC, were very fortunate that Matthew spared us serious damage but there was terrible damage along the coast south of us, and there still is flooding in central NC.

Frank,

That's one way of getting things across here easily, we are well serviced by any number of Florida freight forwarders to whom you can road ship etc. to if ever needed.

I spend so little time at home these days electricity is the last thing on my mind for now................that said I have no nagging wife or children to be concerned for!

Now that is just not fair.

Tony,

That works both ways...........I think even a nagging wife would have been appreciated by me these last 12 months.........new house, renovations.......too much to do and not enough of me to do all............then again maybe not?
