No, but he has a boat just for you! It's a nice express made from a 50' aluminum Vietnam era river patrol boat. Originally powered with turbine engines, they took the hydrafoils off, patched the turbo exhaust holes, redid the deck/cabin conformation, and powered with 8V92's. Needs more power, only cruises about 25 knots.

Anyway, the RLDT claimed a victim today. Anyone who remembers my former deckhand, Jeff Gerner, from the PE parties will be happy to know that while Cobia fishing today with Jeremy Creech on the only original green hulled 31 Bertram, "Jaded Lady", Jeff was ejected from the port stern corner by an estimated 8' swell. After a 9 point flip, he wound up hooked up to a 6/o frenzy circel hook and 60# fluoro leader.

After a short fight, Jeff was looped and loaded and returned to the marina. Another hour or two later and another 10-20k from the insurance company and he was released - less the hook and plus an antibiotic from the local hospital. The SOBs wouldn't give us a pre-removal Xray for anything less than $600 so we passed and I'll post the photos later.

We're worried the eel may not survive. Or is that "eal"?

Never managed to puke on AJ. probably a combination of UV's skill as a captain and the fear of not only never being invitedback, but having Snow throw my ass off for despoiling UV's pride and joy

Thought about it though. Between the cigarett smoke and that droneing noise that was coming from one of your guests(that sounded alot like the droneing I heard at Liquerdale) My tummy was gettting a bit lite.

Yep, they are planning to build them from the Clasic 31 mold, talking about Yanmar power, although the two old 31's they are working on now are scheduled for John Deere engines. He doesn't have the flybridge mold, Rey wouldn't sell it, don't know if they are planning to make them all Bahia Mars or not. I'll sk a little more theis week. Thought he was going to kick my ass this mormning, 'cause we got his forklift stuck yesterday trying to load that cabin roof, but he laughed it off.

I'm no diesel expert but from what I hear, read, etc. the John Deere's are absolutely one of the most trouble free engines on the water. It's my understanding that they are the main stay of the Northeastern small fishing/lobster fleets. Stick'em in the boat and forget about em. It's also my understanding they are 20,000+ hour engines with very minimal care. I know the used ones still fetch top dollar, I ran across a few used JD ads during my engine quest.

The HP per weight & size is not so great, but that's more than likely why they run forever...plenty of iron.

But the JD is a little tall/long/wide for the B31.

I don't remember the diminsions from when I talked to them a long time ago, but they are big - at least in the CAT 3116 class, maybe a little bigger. Talked to a broker who installed a pair in a 31 in Puerto Rico, I think. He said it was very tight, but that the engines were great, good economy, excellent low end torque, cheap parts, last forever. The price they quoted me for a pair back then was under Cummins or Yanmar. A charter capt. here has a pair in an old 36 Chris Craft at 300 hp, says he can top out at 27 knots, gets between 1 mpg and 1.5 mpg at 20 - 22 knot cruise. His only complaint has been the wiring scheme to the gauges, which have had to be replaced several times.

He's a long way from pulling a boat out of the mold, needs to erect a new building first, get more equipment. I'll keep you posted as soon as he comes up with any numbers. One thing abour Noe, you need to really nail him down n pricing, or it tends to fluctuate - upwards.
