I know a few of us on this board have ordered underwater lights from macris industries and want to post and update and get others updates as well.

I installed the lights in Dec 2015 as per the instructions provided. I did not use any power tools beside a drill to drill the screw holes. I used 4200 (correction from 5200) as the backing adhesive and a hand screw driver to insert the screws. Installation was simple and the light formed the the hull contour. The lights were tested before Installation and after. Both worked well but the port did take 3 sec longer to light. All lights lighted fully.

We splashed the boat Jan 16. 2016. 21 days after intallation. Both lights lit that evening and worked well for the next week after splash.

Week two half the port light stated flashing then quit working. Two weeks later the whole port light quit working.
About a month went by and we only ran the starboard light to attract bait prior to putting the big drop in light in the water.

A month ago half the starboard light quit working and last night the hole light quit.

To date both lights have stopped working.

The two aqua lights Thur hull lights I installed still worked flawless.

Has anybody else installed these lights? Or had issues?

I installed 2 white ones and two green ones on Lady S... However, I have not yet had occasion to actually use them... However, I did test them prior to installation and they seemed to work fine...

These instructions assume you are experienced in marine installations. Improper
installation will void warranty.
Equipment needed:
BoatLife LifeSeal or 3M 4200 ​only
Denatured Alcohol Rags
Masking Tape Phillips Screwdriver
Carbon Mounting Shoes Mounting hardware Latex Gloves
Stiff Scraper Drill Drill Index

Prior to mounting: scrape and clean mounting area free of ablative antifouling.
Area should be clean and dry and free of all bottom paint. Use only denatured alcohol
for cleaning.

Acetone will damage MIU Series lamps.

Do not run lamps dry for more
than 30 seconds for testing purposes only.

Do not use 5200 or other harsh adhesives as
they contain harmful chemicals that could damage the lights.


Not sure if the lights are flexible enough to compensate for the transom curve.
All their reviews seem to be very good.

4200 was used not 5200 I like stated and acording to the website prio to updating it they showed the lights being installed on a sail boat with a sever contour. There were no cracks or voids in the light prior to splash. I am by no means a novice in this industry and find it odd to have failur of both light within 4 months of intallation.

Have you contacted the maker?!... There's more then a good chance that they'll make it good...

That sucks. Harrison Macris is a friend of mine, and I would expect that he would definitely want you to have functional lights. Have you contacted him?

I have installed lights on my boat, and am looking forward to getting her wet and seeing them light up the ocean.

I would STRONGLY advocate you contact Macris and discuss. One of the hallmarks that they are most proud of is the durability and toughness of the lights. You issue, while not impossible by any stretch as it is clearly impacting you, is supposedly rare. And yes, they are supposed to be quite flexible.

Please let me know what they say... I am really curious.

Just spoke with the owner of Macris industries. All I can say is truly AMAZING!!! One of the nices guys I have spoken to in the marine industry in a long time. There costumer service is 2nd to none. He explained the deficiency in the light and possible problems. He is replacing both my lights and I will field test a couple other light for them. It's nice to see a company with such great customer service that stands behind there product. Thanks Dug.

Glad to hear it. That's the Harrison I know!!!

I had issues with all 3 lights I purchased, didn't last but a few months but after a few calls he made good on all and the new generation lights are working great
