Sorry I missed your call MOnday, I spent 5 hours burning palm fronds at the canal lot. I'll try to give you a call today, if I get caught up. What engines are you planning to replace the little Yannies with?

Fibertech and Glasstech both have molds to match the original Bertram pulpits and dive platforms. That is if you are looking for fiberglass. I bought both for my B28 and they look factory. Gelcoat matched too.

Teak vs Fiberglass:

Teak Looks pretty (Fiberglass looks better**)
Teak's more expensive than fiberglass
Teak's higher maintenance than fiberglass
Teak has a shorter life span than fiberglass

**If you have a lot of teak onboard, (cockpit sole, cap boards, bulkhead, toe rails, etc), then a teak pulpit & swim platform would be right at home. Without a major teak package, two teak items, one at either end of the boat, it doesn't seem worth the effort & expense to me...

I like my teak pulpit....it looks pretty.

Accompanied by the minimal teak trim on the rest of the boat, top of cabin sides, cockpit trim, teak chair,
helm foot rests, trim around cabin door, and trim piece on transom gunwale...I think the teak pulpit works in very nicely.

Got mine from butler. No compalints other than price tag. Built very tough.

Taking your advice and am going with the Cabrera's.

If the Yanmars don't sell for what I'm wanting for them, then we'll stick them back in. We both know that 20 knots is plenty for the average seas that we have most days here in Tx. If they sell, I'm going with the 256 Steyrs.

I called the numbers that you gave me in regards to the Yanmars...no call backs. I just put them on the boat diesel board a couple of days ago and we'll see what happens. I guess that it really doesn't matter if they sell or not. I still think that I might be making a mistake by selling them in the first place. Thanks for the help with the numbers, Eddy.

You are welcome John. I saw your post on boatdiesel. You should get some calls, especially with your low hours. If not, like you said the hard desicion may be made for you. I will say though, my boat does handle better with the extra speed. Good luck with whatever direction it goes.
