anyone know a site where they sell just the pedestal

I had some success buying used parts from Murray Bro and Scoponich---they usually have parts after doing a refurbish.

Murray Bros will sell you anything you need but be prepared for severe sticker shock...

When I bought Pete's fighting chair I was in a similar predicament... I scoured marine flea markets and relevant web sites & forums... I ended up purchasing a similar if not identical seat without the back and foot rest but with the pedestal and baseplate from a seller on THT... As Pete's seat needed work this saved me some effort... In all I paid less then $900.00 for something that if I were to buy it new would cost around $13,000... Well worth the hassle... But you need to have patience and a bit of luck...
