Italian industrialist Beniamino Gavio said Thursday that he’s still deciding how to revive Bertram Yachts, an iconic sportfishing brand, but one thing is certain: “You can trust that I will treat Bertram with great, great, great respect — the same as I’m doing with Baglietto.”
He said he is inclined to return to Bertram’s roots, building first a Bertram 31 based on the wood-hulled, Ray Hunt-designed deep-vee that won the Miami-Nassau Race in 1960. He might build an open and a flybridge version,
Maybe the new 31 will be the new tenders for his yachts...just check off the Classic 31 Bertram Tender box when ordering. Cha ching...tally goes up a few hundred K...hardly noticed.
" If he does build a 31, bet-cha he hangs OBs on it. :-( "
Or (gasp) a pair of mid-mounted jack-shafted duoprop i/o's....
Kidding aside, I'm seriously considering this for an upcoming B31 rebuild.
My thought is this could be a very cost effective performance upgrade ?
Any insights on this would be appreciated.
