Bertram 37 progress
Took the old rubrail off , took out the aft windows , remodelled the air intakes , sanded off the black and gold stipe on the flybridge , hull in first coat AlwGrip Aqua Mist
Women are like boats ,the older they get , the more money and professional help they need to look beautiful.
Re: Bertram 37 progress
Wow... that is fast! I guess the hull was pretty straight and did not need any fairing?
Can't wait to see the finished results.

Geez, if significant others ever saw Gert's speed and quality -- we'd all be hearing "Why does it take you so much longer thant Gert? I bet Gert's wife doesn't have to put up with this! Gert's wife gets to use the boat."
Wow, what a pace.

Re: Bertram 37 progress
Wasn't this a "winter project"? Is it winter were Gert is? Maybe I misunderstood: ".....get done by winter..."
Re: Bertram 37 progress
The Netherlands are in the northern hemisphere so they have the same seasons as in the US... I.e. it's late summer early autumn... I do think that you misunderstood though... Getting the boat "done by winter" means (as I understand it) getting it done BEFORE winter starts... IOW, he's got 3 months or so to finish the project... Definitely ambitious...Hueso wrote:Wasn't this a "winter project"? Is it winter were Gert is? Maybe I misunderstood: ".....get done by winter..."

LOL. I'm just being sarcastic. He stated in his "SORRY GUYS" post: "Now the 37 is on transport and I think it will be here on Thursday , this winter I will do the renovation." I think Gert is an overachiever and an obsessive compulsive hard worker. We should all be like him in our lines of work. ;)

Oops... I guess my irony/sarcasm radar was turned off... Written communication (which lacks tonal as well as body expressions) is so limited...Hueso wrote:LOL. I'm just being sarcastic.
You and me both!...Hueso wrote:I think Gert is an overachiever and an obsessive compulsive hard worker. We should all be like him in our lines of work. ;)

We are going to ship our boats to you to work on them. Wow.
Ok though guys, I bet Gert's honey do list is huge and filled with unfinished projects. After all he is a boat owner. LOL

Re: Bertram 37 progress
Gert,
Is that the 37 originally named Hot Chili that was built without an aft bulkhead, as a day boat? It's the only 37 I know of with forward salon windows. It ended up in Southern California where a friend of a friend owned it but I have not heard of its whereabouts in many years.

Re: Bertram 37 progress
Gert, Thanks for that link that boat was for sale for 120k for a long time, is that the old for sale page or is it still on the market? It happens to be my favorite lay out of all Bertrams, very much like an old Merritt, Rybo or Whiticar. John I believe Bertram made a handful of these in 1993/94, something like 3-6 with no aft bulkhead and the front windows.

Re: Bertram 37 progress
That is the boat Gert, thanks for the link. I stand corrected, I thought they only built the one. I know they had structural issues with them and most had to have aft cabin bulkheads installed to stop the house from flexing (and breaking).
