Gasser gunnel vent/blower hose questions

Post by John F. »

I'm in the process of cleaning up the engine compartments on my '69 B31 gasser. As usual, she has a blower that pulls air out of the compartment and a gunnel vent to drive air in. The hoses on both are old, and are geting replaced. Question is this: Where should the new hoses end? Is the vent hose supposed to be lower, for example, ending under the engine or down by the oil pan, or is the blower supposed to end there (one high and one low?)? Does it matter?

The suction lines for the blowers should extend down into the lower portion of the bilge so that it can suck out gas fumes that settle there. My gunnel vents only had short (2') hoses on them.
