Mako Weight

Post by 34Hatt »

So yesterday we got a nice Mako we estimated it to be 250+ being what we thought was conservative. Stopped on the way back in at Jackson's and had it weigh the Kid doing it guess 300 lbs so all the #s were between 250 to 300.
It was 83.25" from nose to curve of fin so the Kid is up there and we hear a Huh he starts checking everything and then says its 215 lbs?
Granted belly was empty had nice girth to it though. Charts put it at 285 lbs for the one I saw.

What do you think scale right or wrong?

Thanks Dan

I think that the twins still have the first nickel that they ever earned. I'll bet that scale hasn't been calibrated in 40 years.

I'd have to taste a piece to calibrate the palate.

215 seems light.

I want to be weighed by that scale if that Mako is 215 -- I might finally be under 200!

Thats funny Tom I actually had the thought the next morning I should have hung on it to see what I weight I am sure I would have been back to teenage weight !

Guess I can consider it around 280 lbs without the typical exaggeration?

We had an 84" Mako this year in the freeport hudson tournament. She weighed 242 lbs. 215 seems a little light for that fish. Prob closer to 240 - 250. Nice fish either way.
