A Few More Steps closer

Had the Bertram in the drive/garage last weekend.

My 11 year old helped me with a few things.

Bilge pumps installed. Both are fused remotely. The back-up pump shown is always in auto mode. Primary pumps is a Whale with remote pick-up. It should keep the bilge nice and dry.

Tiger Paw vents being positioned.

Enjoy!

I'm not sure what is better, your craftsmanship, or your son working with you on the project and learning the proper way -- I vote for the latter

Tom - Thanks for those words, but the true craftsman is Ryan the guy that did the paint and the engine installers.

I am glad that Berkeley and I had good times measuring, drilling holes (30 this weekend I think the total count was) sealing and bolting things down.

Looks like good family fun! Any pictures outside in the sun?

No sun on Michigan right now.

Looks real clean. I wish my son could help.
He turns two in about a week. Right now anything not bolted down just gets thrown overboard. He thinks it is funny.

Ian,
Where did you find the original low profile chrome brass transom vents, you should be really proud of the way that the boat is coming out, nice workmanship. Everything is well supported and loomed, all quality materials you won't have to do anything to the boat until your son is old enough to do it for you. Just remember to put rubber boots over the positive battery terminals, so if you drop a tool on them they don't cause a spark or worse case a fire.

Thanks again. I already have the covers for the positive side of the batteries on the punchlist (in my head at this point, not on paper).

6 position blue seas switch is ready for final install. It was a rough time cutting out to the template. Alot of tight curves in the wrong direction. I 'sanded' down the rough edges to mitigate and cracks from propagating. There is enough of an overlap that nothing is seen.

Also tossed a piece of plywood in to mimic what I am thinking for stern seating.

for consideration...I like using insulation board for mock-ups. Easy to cut and duct tape together. ~$8 a sheet at LOWEs/HD

Here's a shot of the 1/2 bow seat and forward liner mock-up from my B25. Brown paper for the 2D line layout, and to represent the footprint of the center console. i'll make the final pieces directly from the mock-ups.

Great idea Cam. I just happened to have this piece of plywood lying around. Didn't even have to cut anything.

I'll check out the insulation board.

Ian, I think it should be lower if possible, more "in the boat", but I guess you need the head room for the motor? What if you move it ahead a little so the backrest is above the motor and the seat is in front of the motor.

I love Cam's idea of using foam board, I need to mock up a radius for the back rest on my fwd bench seat and now I know how I'm going to do it!

Ian, where did you get your "20" emblems? I understand they are hard to find.

Tommy,
Pretty sure I got my "20" emblems from High Tide MArine. Mine are stainless.

I think I got the "20's" from High Tide as well. Interestingly the 20's and the BERTRAM are different. You would not notice from 6 feet away, but the BERTRAM has a bit more mass to it. The 20's are thinner although still stainless. To be quite honest, I have had the emblems and the tiger paw vents from a LONG time. Some of these I have had since 2007 when I sold my first B20. This is the first time there was base that was worthy of the shiny chrome.

I got the switch panel installed last night. The 'pigtails' are all attached and neatly bundled. Will terminate all at a terminal block and then tie in the individual run from the blower, lights, etc.
