Mark,

It's a 25 Bert... The B26 has heavier pilasters. The only thing B31 about it is that the owner took a B31 flybridge winshield and installed it around the bridge. Pretty sure it's a sterm drive setup.

I think the thing that confuses at first glance is that it's got a heavy load forward, and hiding the chine.

I dunno Pat, I was thinking its not Bertram whatsoever.
Notice the cabin windshield is flat, the center support is not positioned forward ala Bertram.
The hull is off too. The freeboard is to vertical… its just wrong.

I was thinking its one of the (not so) great imitators, like an Allmand, or a Seaport..

Yeah, the more I look at it the more I see wrong... Have you seen the boat in real life?

No, just on CL this am…
The thing that got me was the flybrige and the area where the aft pilasters contact it. Very close imitation.

•Engine/Fuel Type: Single Gas

That adds another wrinkle... What ever it is, it's a bastard, Bertram or otherwise.

Looks more like a Prowler hull with a Bertram top and bridge.

Maybe one of those Baja Cruisers 31 knockoffs from down under?

Think you might be close, Mike. The Aussie builder under contract to Bertram is Caribbean, (now under the name of International Marine).

I haven't been able to dredge up any of the 31' models from the 60's though....

I saw that the other day while surfing C list. I threw up in my mouth a little. I don't "mean" to steal Mike's thunder by saying so.
It's like when someone sais a Phoenix 28 is the same thing as a B28. I believed it at first then I actually looked at one on the hard. Nice boat, but not a Bertram hull by any stretch.

The add says custom built. It says it is a Bertram Enterprise.

It does look like an old John Almond or a Sea Fox which I think later became Phoenix.

Guy's,
It looks like a 31 Hatteras hull with a John Alman windshield and house top, a 31 Bertram fly bridge and a windlass that could raise the Titanic. It is not a 31 Bertram that's for sure, It's a custom whatever. False advertising. Beware of Craig Lists ads.

There was a company called Breuil that built boats under the name Enterprise and it does look like one of there hulls.

Here is a link to a better example.

Pete

It is also listed on Yacht World. You just can't trust even those who should know better.

I stumbled across this old article. If you look at the 3rd column right under the 3 stars, it says Motella ran an Enterprixe in the Miami to Nassau race in 64. I wonder if this manufacturer is related to this boat, since this is called a Bertram Enterprise.

How about we just use some low explosives and put it out of its wannabe misery?

Brevil, that's the name I was thinking. I just couldn't quite remember the name.

The boats were built in Miami Florida by Jim Breuil. He was president of Frontier Oil and at one time owned the Buffalo Bills. He was an offshore racing enthusiast and frequently competed in the Midnight Runs to the Bahamas and the famed Miami to Nassau races. A few I might mention he won but routinely finished in the top 3 in a 36 Enterprise!

Looks like Craig drove the final nail in the coffin.

Except for a couple of very minor details, these are the same boat. Listing on boat in the first image calls it a 28'...
