i have seen some 31's with there radar scanner forward and aft on the half towers ,which seems to be the best as far as echo pick-up.kinda looking at the garmin 3210 system w/dome scanner..gonna be installing it on a aluminum half tower frame top.?oris it just what ever you prefer ???any input on this

Phil,

Center line, just forward of middle, with a 10º wedge to compensate for a bow proud angle when at cruise...

I like them as far forward as you can get them to avoid "clipping" off the area just ahead of the boat due to interference with the front of the tower when running. Many of the units now have a very wide vertical cone so you may not need the wedge. AJ has the Raytheon 4KW open array far forward on the half tower, no wedge, and I can see a beer can floating at 20 yards while at cruise. Of course I can usually see many more beer cans astern......
