Morning Coffee...

This morning I'm greated by an email from a "WEBMASTER"...

Hmmmm, a webmaster. Is that something like a "CAPTAIN"? You know, an official title of some dubious character that when presented to the local 7-11, allows him/her to buy a small cup of coffee for $1.29...

Said webmaster, (anonymously of course - no real name offered, either coming or going), has interrupted my morning coffee and ass scratching by asking: "I am the webmaster of http://www.perfprotech.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" and I am working towards cleaning up the links that have been created on your website".

Then he/she proceeds to list almost 30 bertram31.com bulletin board URLs that he/she wants deleted so that his/her website is Google Quality Compliant. DTFW???

After checking out this strange request, there's only ONE post, in only ONE thread in which a link to his/her website occurs. AND, it's over 5 years old! Jeeeeze....

OK, well, a reply is in order.

It goes like this:
"Anonymous webmaster"

Welcome to my world!

Only 1 link and 1 non-linked mention of perfprotech were found. Those 2 incidents occur in only 1 thread, (http://www.bertram31.com/newbb/search.p ... rotech.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;").

The post that contains the link has only been viewed 5670 times since 29 Jan 2009, (5 years)
http://www.bertram31.com/newbb/viewtopi ... com#p34747" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;"

The post that contains the non-linked mention of perfprotech has only been viewed 1161 times since 30 Aug 2006, (9 years)
http://www.bertram31.com/newbb/viewtopi ... 300&p=2129" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;"

Bertram31.com serves over a quarter of a million page views per month, or about 15 million page views and 96 million hits in a 5 year period.

Your 1 link in this thread only amounts to roughly 0.000006% of what my website has generated in that period.

Both of the instances that mention in, any way, perfprotech are positive and, if anything, could only be constrewed as an asset to your website.

Could I have just spent a brief moment to delete the link, rather than taking close to an hour to research and develop this reply?

Of course! But, in over 19 years of owning, developing and managing websites, I have never received such a superfluous request as yours.

And for you to come in as an anonymous webmaster to boot pretty much pissed me off....

When I get pissed off, I get obstinate.

Since I only edit my member's posts when there is a glaring mistake, mal-statement, or for other major reason, (all very rare occurrences), I see no good reason to remove that 1 link. And I fail to grasp how removing the link how it "cleans" up or enhances Google's view of your website. https://support.google.com/webmasters/a ... 69?hl=en#3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;"

Bertram31.com is well rated with Google and my website is both protected and Verified spam-free by SiteLock.com, so there's absolutely no degradation of perfprotech.com by the existence of that 1 link.
https://secure.sitelock.com/verify.php? ... tram31.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;"

Besides, this morning I had nothing better to do that to bust your balls.....

Capt. Pat, please take this in the complimentary manner in which it is offered: you would make a good lawyer!

Thanks John,

Having had many lawyers as clients, I've learned a few "weasel words"
