Brewster,
Three lobster dinners for the crew of the Zip. Should we post a caution for the Shinnecock canal current on open lock and low overhead clearance?

Canal only 19 1/2' clearance and whaen its open its a hard tripn thru. It can be done but better when the lock is closed.

went thru the canal on a heavy moving outgoing tide yesterday .after we watched a 40 ft hickley bounce off the concrete sides we all powered up and got thru .proceed with caution but dont be afraid of the throttles .also for any boats traveling thru the inner route thru the great south bay.the moriches inlet area is dangerous.the gps and map show a straight channel but it is incorrect and the buoys are not as shown ,go slow.

I'll never forget taking the little boat through the canal against the current, engine was turning 3600 and we were only doing 10 kts.
