b-31 transport

Post by ljmauricio »

Can anybody recommend a transport company in Florida. I'm looking to move my 31 from Daytona Beach to Islamorada and back a month later.

Roughly 375 NM are you on a short time leash? Maybe one of the faithful would take it by sea for you if you are strapped for time? That sounds like it might be a fun trip. Hell I know a blind guy who took his to a UVI over 550 NM. Of course I do not know your fuel burn/wear and tear ratio vs transport charges.

It's approx 300 miles. Did it last year on it's bottom. About 1 nm per gallon with 350 Crusaders and gas around $5.00 per gallon equals $1500. I'm hoping transport will be less even with a travel lift at each end. Had it trucked from Tampa area to Daytona Beach a couple years ago for $600, but no response so the company must be out of business.

LJ,
Barney at Skipper Shipper in Jensen Beach has moved mine a few times and I have used him for other boats going north. His office number is 772-225-1279 Christa will usually answer the phone Barney's cell is 772-285-2432. He's not cheap but is fully bonded and insured.

The prices went from $ 2600 down to $900 each way. The higher prices were from companies using transport trailers, the lower prices came from companies using 18,000# triple axle trailers. I see no reason why a triple axle trailer wouldn't do the job since many on this blog use them. All bids included permitting and insurance.

When I sold the Anna E., she went to Florida on a triple axle trailer pulled by a big pickup. I forget the hauler's name, but I got his name off this board for the buyer. It all went well according to the buyer.

Keith,

Very cool setup. Do you launch and pick up at a standard back down ramp, or launch at places that have a hoist? If you launch and pick up at ramps, do you run the boat all the way up onto the trailer under its own power, or do you have a winch system to winch it up onto the trailer? I think there is a maximum legal beam for trailering in some states. Do you need a permit to trailer a boat that wide?

I have a Annual wide load permit wide load signs on the front and back of the rig

I turn the motors off at a standard launch ramp and use one hand on the side of the boat and walk it right on the trailer no winches

Hey Keith, I see you resurrected an old post.

How are you doing? We have not seen you in a while and shark week just ended. Have you had any interesting shark trips?
