Gas Tank Dimension Question

Post by mikepelham »

I recently bought a 31 and although the inside of the tank is gelcoated, I am going to replace it. The deck is a glasstech deck put on 3 years ago so it should be fairly easy to remove. I am a few hours away from the boat but want to get some prices on a tank. Does anyone know the dimensions after the glass is cut out?

Mike,

The stainless steel tank that I had made for Gerry Santiago's B31 FBC is a bit longer than the diagram below, but all other diamensions are the same.

If your B31 is pre-1972, you will need to reduce the height of the tank or raise your deck height accordingly.

Br,

Patrick

I have found your site so useful. I have been around boats since Iwas a kid and am 31 now. Tbe boat Isgair is in LBI, if you ever make your way up there, I would be honored to take you out for dinner and some beers

Thanks Again

Patrick,

How much longer did you go on Gerry Santiago's tank, and how much was the tankage increased?

Thanks in advance.

Patrick,

How much lower in height should I consider for my '71?
From what I have seen in my boat, I have approximately 2 inches clearence from my deck support beams to the top of the tank.

Harv,

The deck height on '72 & later is 3" higher, so your new tank would have to be 3" lower...
