lets see if we can determine how many 31s are on the island, may be take a count by town or sector, maybe we can get good count plus or minus a few.
freeport i count 5 ,check me harv on that #
I run a 33 FBC from MTK, not a B31, but would like to share timely offshore fishing info with other Bertram diehards.
Would be interesting to know where the most B31 are around the country in addtion to LI.
Me and Bob Fiorese are at my Marina, Bob Cassola and Doug Mercer are at Gone Fishing Marina. That's 4 definites for Montauk. There are seveal others I don't know the owners of. Theres one called Compleat Angler, too. Walter
at oakdale yacth there are two 31' "the gambler" and "phoenix".there is also the luckest guy i ever seen with a 31' gasser on the pines at fire island always has a 31 beauty with him on the bridge.he goes out and anchors off the island then returns 1 hour latter?a gentleman about 65 years old don`t know his name.
There's you, me, Kevin, and Craig that I know for sure. Then there is "Kathie" (still for sale), and one I don't know the owner on Woodcleft, and another on Hudson for a known total of 7. Then there are a few I see from the inlet but don't know where they stay. There are also 2 on the hard for a long time and one at Treasure Island being restored. Taking a conservative guess, I would say there are at least a dozen in our area. Then there is Dick Dean in Fire Island.
craig have you seen a mint green bahia mar around the area, nice looking boat, he pulled up next to last fall in the inlet while bass fishing dont know where hes out of . the name of the boat was mint
trouble maker owned by phil out of west islip, new owner of bimini kid out of bayshore,a gasser in a canal in lindenhurst,a perfect stock silver anniverary in a backyard in west islip,a 1967 fbc hidden on shelter island, predator owned by phil of diesel services out of cuthogue, a beautiful flag blue fbc out of greenport,
theres jeff pagano and jeff briggs in 3 mile harbor...theres at least one in sag harbor....i wave to em in the channel on occasion....must be a few on the north fork also....dont forget fred gries and the one on shelter island
Since "Blue Beard" considers itself from Montauk so I assume Three Mile Harbor is not included in that count, in Three Mile Harbor there are two 31s, one FBC-"Wits End" and a Bahia Mar-"Bahia Mar".
Jerry Gomber bought either Kiddie Kar or Green H and moved it out of Freeport. It is now named Triton. Both of those boats came to my yard for winter and now neither one does.
There are 3 B31s out of the Moriches area. The Nittany Lion, Cookie II and one more FBC that I cant remember the name of. Anybody know of any on the North Shore?
alright with the adding and subtracting of the double post iam coming up with 47 31s on the island so far,
hey new jersey you guys have a shit load down there, are you holding off till later
Sorry for the oversite Randall. Maybe I'll check out the Volvo postings with my extra time .....
In a past life I was 4 boats away from Fred on that dock in Eastport. Always liked his boat. Bought one when I moved to NC.
Alright now only in Florida do you get to count chads twice. So let's get it right with all these 31's up there, can't have all these phantoms being counted twice.
Timmy gonna wanna start counting HATT'S next and there no telling how many that could be considering we would have to use a sonar to find some.
terry.....no kiddin...i dont think freds boat is back in the water yet....i thought of another one....shooting video with my friend liza of a sailboat race around shelter island we saw one in a field off a dirt road.....anyone know that one
Randall-Theres a guy on Shelter Island named Bill Smith. He used to run an organization called Fish Unlimited. He was also very involved with the expoure of Smithaven Laboratories dumping of radioactive water. He always claimed to have a 31 on Shelter Island and when you say this boat is on dry land, it makes me suspect it's his. Last I saw of him, he was pushing a book he wrote on Tuna, and was running someone elses boat out of Montauk two years ago to make some bucks...but didn't see him at all last season. Walter
walter.....we were in a hurry to get to a spot where we could catch the race action so i couldn't investigate but this boat didnt look like it had been wet to recently
