Never mind...

Post by Carl »

Deleted post as it seems that closing the marina was a rumor perpetuated by a "friend"...marina could close, could stay open.
Unknown as of yet.

Didn't take my own advice on believing nothing off the internet from unknown sources...or known sources of questionable character.

Utility room filled inches from ceiling, 6' of water in kitchen and 4' thru rest of house.
It's gutted to studs with no power or gas...
Waiting to see if it can be Raised or my hope Razed.
Either way, can't live there and can't move forward till insurance company finishes their assessment.
It's apartment life for me and the family till it all gets straightened out.
I was happy at least the boat was spared and still blocked in the Marinas yard till next year...one less hassle to deal with.
But looks like I gotta move that now too.

Sorry to hear about your house if I can help give me a call not all that talented but if you need something let me know.
My boat is back at the marina, they actually dragged it back into the water instead of trucking it. Bottom took a beating but still no holes.
Spoke to Eddie today he said they will be open till the spring and said they will fight with the government to keep the marina. I don't know why they would not want a marina there if someone is willing to run it and to put more people on the unemployment line makes no cents at all. Probably not a priority right now but a call to our elected officials might help.

House is...whatever. We will get that figured out in time. Appreciate the offers for help...really!
Need to see if our building department will allow us to bring into Flood Compliance, demo or as they told us before...rebuild as it was, period end of story. If the last option, I think I'll do a quick fix and rent till I can sell it or floods again, collect and do it again.

Boat, I was just glad to leave it someplace safe till we get everything else figured out.

Today it was rumors and who spoke to Eddie and when. Office is saying they expect to be open and rebuild, Eddie yesterday told a buddy Jan 1st Parks department closes the place down with no entrance without Park Police escort. Your saying Eddie expects to be open till spring....Water taxi is in place in Marina and they are planning to expend beyond the 8 weeks...

Who knows whats going on...government shut down Cedar Grove Community which brought in revenue...why? so they could extend the unused beach front...? Huh???make any sense?
I do not expect government to make any sensible decisions...true you would thing they would want to keep marina going...no outlay of money for them and keeps lots of jobs and boats bring in lots of tax revenue...

I just don't understand much...

Clothes, shoes, toys, whatever sizes? Takes nothing to fill a box and send it UPS! Dishes, toothpaste you know, stuff you don't even think about. Got stuff, you need stuff, be proud another time, whatever you need.

It's no big deal people care here.

Really appreciate the offers...we are good, really...for my family I'm not proud.

We heeded the warning of Sandy, evacuated the weekend prior pulling most everything of value out of house expecting the worst, a 12-13' surge. It went a couple feet higher then that. We lost some furniture and stuff that we didn't lift high enough. Appliances, TV's, stereo's, computers, bikes, clothes, toys all in storage or crammed into the bedroom loft in house, which looks like a hoarders paradise. Our demo and junk pile was much smaller then everyone else in the area.

My in-laws had us in for 3 weeks till we moved into an apartment. We have not had to deal without power, food or shelter. Kids have new bedroom furniture, living room furniture is ordered and we have the Costco, Super Deluxe, Queen size, Inflatable Mattress with Integral headboard to sleep on till we decided what we are doing.

We are good, just a major pain in the Arse, relocating boat may just be another kick in the butt. Just need time to adapt then get ready to start the rebuild process...which is good as time is what we have as insurance is taking their sweet time too.

LOL, while typing wife was rear ended...both the kids and her are safe, looks like we need a bumper on the Honda Pilot. The car that hit her needs a new front end though, or so it seems from picture. Our air bags didn't go off??? Hmm hope car didn't go under and toss frame out of whack. Been quite the fall season...

Car insurance company too...think that about covers all the periphery insurance companies I deal with...thinking they may be having a worse fall then we are.

I miss being board.
