I dont know when the last time I posted, but have decided to go with an open layout-head front port. Reinforced bridge with a carbon fiber beam and will go with two support posts at the rear bulkhead either side of the walkway. Built the window frames myself and they will retain a fixed glass panel forward and a sliding panel rear.

Looks like a pretty big remodel. How does the walkway feel with the engine boxes like that? I wonder how much weight is lost using new cores inside the cabin vs all the plywood it had?

I'm interested to see how you go along with this so keep us updated.

I always liked the "sportfish" style layout with no rear bulkhead. Makes for a great day boat if you are not running a/c.

What are you doing for power? Why so much height in the engine boxes? Just for aesthetics and seating, or does the power require that much more height?

Looks pretty cool. That's alot of work. Not so sure about the helm seat....

John: I think the helm seat helps with rapid deployment of the outriggers,etc.

I have weighed the old interior bulkheads and the new ones(dyvinicell with 2 layers of 17oz each side) and I am saving some weight. Dont plan on having any of the galley cabinets and heavy fiberglass or AC(boat is going to Panama so need low maint.) Motors are Yanmar 240STP and there is enough clearance side to side. Raised the engine boxes because the flat raised platform seemed useless. At least with this you can sit or lay on the boxes and have a couple of steps up to the bridge to a ladder rung on a tower post.

I too have a 28 and notice that it looks like you are grafting some of the 31's design elements onto her. I would love to put the 31 style engine boxes on my too for the same reasons. Keep up the good work.

Seems like you are like me, years figuring "exactly" what you want to do, then get after it.

Keep it up, starting to look like a boat.
