33 rebuild
I have a good friend in Mexico looking to rebuild a 33. He has found some 315's and is now looking for transmissions. My understanding is 1.5:1 is what he needs and he tells me he wants ZF's. Does anyone have a set laying around they want to part with? What is a fair price for said tranny's? Other pointers on this project as alway are welcome.

Its Boats & Harbors, the commercial marine marketplace. Comes out three times a month and is nothing but display and classified ads for marine related new and used equipment. Its cheap too, something like $17 a year if you just get one issue a month since they tend to repeat a lot of ads over the course of a month. It is the mother lode for good shit usually at non-rec. prices.

I've been getting it for years and most of the regular advertisers are top of the line companies. Some folks here have had trouble with some used engine brokers lying about the condition of RTO & "rebuilt" engines.
But Allen Machine, which carries a three page ad every week, is the mother lode for stuff like galvanized or stainless cable, shackles, turnbuckles, cleats, etc. I bought some super heavy duty casters from them for something crazy like 12 bucks each that I made a boat dolly out of and some more for $3 I made pot plant rollers for the Bride.
A great read if you like interesting junk.

Mark...
I can't help with locating transmissions for your friend, but you can confirm to him that most of us with 315-330 HP diesels in B33s have 1.5 : 1 transmissions and wheels in the 21" Diam by 23" Pitch, or thereabouts. There is lots of discsuuion on these subjects in the B33 forum, if he isn't already visiting there.

His trans should be 1.5:1 and his props should be 3 blade nibral 21x22 with a #5 cup. He'll cruise at 2400rpms and 23-24 knots and he'll top out at 2900+rpms and 28-29 knots. Fuel burn at cruise will be around 20gph.
I know of at least 4 other with this exact set up. He will not be disappointed.
