Anniversary.....a real American Hero

Today celebrates the 50th anniversary of John Glens first trip to space.

In an interview John was asked if he was scared.....his reply was "YES I WAS".

Supposedly after his flight when a reporter was interviewing him he was asked..

"What did you think of when the countdown was progressing and you knew you were about to be launched into space?"

Without batting an eye he answered..

"I thought about the millions of man hours that went into designing the thing I was strapped into, the biggest engineering project of it's day..
And the billions of dollars worth of equipment I was sitting in ready to be blasted into space..

And it all went to the lowest bidder!"
