Looks like you are in good company with Tony Athens saying the following " SOP in our shop is to dip or spray every plug, terminal, etc. we assemble or touch in a petroleum based di-electric liquid like Corrosion-x, corrosion block & Wd -40."

We all learned about it from da Judge - Judge Trey Dibrell, one of the original Faithful who's also an aviation A&P. The stuff was originally developed for the aviation industry and in wide use there before it became available to the general public. I did send Tony a few cans and he seems to like it. Magic in a can.
