My son's First Duck
Our early duck season ended a couple of weeks ago. Slow hunting first couple of days. My boys 8 & 6 insisted on going sat morning. I had to get a buddy to cover 1/2 of my shift and sent hours getting boat ready(leagle lights and all). 4am wake the boys up they jump out of bed right in to wadders. The quickest I have ever seen them get out of bed. My wife was laughing at me taking the 2 boys , a 2yr lab and me in a 14' jon boat hunting. A beautiful sunny day no wind. Boys ask If there will be any birds. I said sure be quiet. @ 7:50 a bird flares and lands out side of the decoys. swinging away. I tell my oldest to shoot (.410) I follow up to keep it from flying away. Last season lost 2 buffleheads that fly away. Here are pic's of the proud boys.
Only had one bird fly, But thats all we needed. On pround kid.[/img]
My best day hunting hands down.

Frank, you have a lot to be proud of there.....that's as great for the kids as it is for Pops.
Those are days that will never be forgotten
I cannot tell who is the most proud.....the kids or dad! ! !
Keep it up.....that's the way to raise boys.

BTW....have you seen the Pink 22 rifles for the "Daddys Girl" kind of kid??

Harry, I think they call it the "chipmonk" I know a guy that bought his daughter.
JP, real good eating. After we cleaned the bird he say can me get it mounted? I said too late for this one, Next one and we'll tell evryone it's your first. He said great.
Rawleigh, Last year he hit a buffle head .410 3" #4 heavyshot and the bird flew away. I think I was more bumed then he was. I told him theres always next time.
Tommy, You an't kidding too fast. My wife was 8 month pregant when Lin, you and I meet in Ocracoke. So he was year and a half in Harkers island and just turned 9.
