If it's an Edson wheel here's a link to one of the sources. Enjoy!

On the topic of wheels. Will the original Bertram SS destroyer type wheels fit onto the Seastar Helm pumps?

original wheel and seastar pump

Scot,
The wheel (original) on my 1963 sf 's lower helm fits ok but I did have to take a hackswaw and cut about a quarter inch off the cupped housing that fits over the pump. Mine just wouldn't fit until I did that. I then smoothed with a grinder.

John,

Good seein' ya' Capt...

I've been buying from Sam at Release Marine for chrome over bronze Rybovich style. What's the MSRP on the Ongaro wheel?

Give my best to Poppy!

Patrick

Hey Patrick!

I don't remember what I paid, I'll have to go back and look. But those wheels of Sams sure aare beautiful. I just put one of his fighting chairs on the boat last year. Pop's in Palm Beach fishing the Silver Sailfish Derby as we speak. I'll tell her you said "hello!" I was up there two weeks ago for a party and saw Twyford, Kim Neilsen, a bunch of the usual suspects...

tried a photo but it didn't work...

this is a knock off version of the more expensive found at boat shops, I bought one 4 months ago and so far it seems to be fine. Check out E-bay item.

Man thats a cool wheel.. but with that style you gotta have it perfectly straight on the set up. or its gonna look like my old chevy trk wheel going 1/4 turn "Left"

Wheel?

Post by Capt. Mike Holmes »

Wayne, don't know about the wheel, but your boat is looking great! I waffle some on keeping my 31 or moving to a bigger Bertram, now that I'm retired and could run more trips, but seeing what a lot of you guys have done to your boats always brings me back to wanting to make mine "all it could be"!

Looking at a nice 42 I could maybe get for $125,000, but then the guy down the canal puts Bullet - a beautiful 31 just repowered with new 370 common rail Cummins, up for sale for $225,000 - and I'd probably rather have it! He says it tops out at 36 knots, cruises 29.
"There is nothing quite so satisfying, as simply messing around in boats."
