2011 Project Finished - Salon Door -

Post by JeremyD »

The door frame was rotted - I remade in teak - as well as painting the door with awlgrip and refinishing the wood.

Hopefully it won't leak like it was leaking during Florida thunderstorm season...

Thanks - it was quite a bit of work fitting to the door frame. Not quite level or square.

Can you just paint the formica on the door and back bulkhead? Mine needs freshening up and just cleaning it isn't enough any more.

What kind of paint and what is needed to prep it to stay?

I used awlgrip - sanded down the formica down to 220 grit.

filled in any dents with epoxy and microballons -

Had to use some epoxy and clamps to reattach the formica some of the wood on the door had separated - I also repainted the covering boards the same way when I first got the boat - they came out well.

That really came out nice. If I paint the rear bulkhead and door, then the cockpit panels will look crappy. Then if I paint the cockpit panels the ..........

Nice clean looking B28 you have there.
